Shameless Cast SECRETS And FACTS Fans NEVER Knew About!

Welcome back to Flixified, today on the channel we are going to find out the Shameless cast secrets and facts fans never knew about. While gut-bustingly hilarious at times, Shameless also goes to much darker places than many TV series have ever gone, dealing with addiction, family dysfunction, social and economical class struggles, mental health, LGBTQ issues, and other taboo topics in an unflinching manner. While this is one case where the behind-the-scenes trivia of a show couldn't possibly be as crazy as what is happening on the show itself-- at least, we can only hope that it isn't-- that doesn't mean that there isn't plenty of fascinating tidbits about the making of the show and about its actors and creative team that will blow away even the most hardcore fans. Here are 25 Crazy Things About Shameless That Only True Fans Knew.

Emmy Rossum Wasn't Allowed To Audition. It takes a certain kind of actress to play a role like Fiona Gallagher, and Shameless's producers didn't think that Emmy Rossum had what it took. Looking at her work prior to the role-- especially her part in 2004's The Phantom of the Opera-- they thought she was too pretty, too clean-cut, and too glamorous to tackle a role like Fiona. In fact, they refused to even give her an audition, convinced she could never land the part. In a very Fiona move, Rossum refused to accept that, making own audition tapes and sending them anyway. She wasn't taking no for an answer-- and once they saw her audition, they weren't saying no anymore. Jimmy/Steve Was Never Supposed To Come Back. A major part of Shameless for its first three seasons was the complicated relationship between Fiona and Steve-- aka Jimmy, aka Jack-- played by Justin Chatwin. While his featured role was reduced to recurring guest star in the fourth and fifth seasons, he was never supposed to come back at all after the end of season three. Steve's life seems to have ended in brutal fashion at the end of season three. Indeed, that was the plan, but the show's writers and some of its cast were unhappy with the way his storyline was resolved, especially in regard to Fiona. Fake Smokers. A lot of addictive behaviors are on display in Shameless, each with varying degrees of danger and legality. Honestly, smoking tobacco is far from the worst thing you'll see a character do. That doesn't mean that there still hasn't been a lot of thought given to how smoking is portrayed on the show. More on the Shameless cast secrets and facts fans never knew about in this video.

I noticed right away that the actress who played Mandy changed. I really liked the original girl. Immediately I noticed the difference.

I think the cast they picked out was absolutely perfect there's no way Woody harrelson could have been a Frank gallagher. There's just no way. And as far as everybody else goes I think they did a wonderful job. I think Debs was a little awkward but I think we kind of all got used to her being awkward because we all loved her because she's Debbie gallagher. 💕

Frank is the single largest difference between UK and USA versions… glad they made the choice… it makes watching both series a significantly engaging experience…

Great list. As a massive fan of the original series, I was surprised that Micky then, wasnt intended on being around all the time for the US remake. He was a massive part of the UK version, in particular when the show started to focus more on Micky and Mandy's family, the Maguires. He and Ian had a brilliant- but platonic friendship and their mishaps with the other characters was always a highlight in the UK version. If anything, I thought Micky and Mandy were somewhat underused in the US version. Mandy's role in the UK was massive. She has Lip's baby in its second season, and she was a huge character overall. I thought that, in the US version she mostly just was with, or pined after Lip, and not used enough in other potential plots.
The UK version saw Micky and Mandy's family be just as much the focus with screentime as the Gallaghers themselves as the show progressed and Micky and Mandy had much larger roles and parts with all the other characters.
