8 years ago it seemed like a worthy cause. Today not so much. Building a stable Linux box that runs Davinci Resolve seems much more worthwhile nowadays!

I went from Microsoft Windows to Hackintosh to Linux. Never leaving Linux.

Perfect timing Chris, since I am about to tackle the 3rd OS for the One PC To Rule Them All. And completely agree with you on the fact that if you are going for Hackintosh then not using an existing Mac platform is the way to go. So I am waiting for the next vid patiently and see you mess up so I can avoid these mistakes and then make my own vid, alright sensei? Great Vid!

I think the word on the street is: "If you want to get a HackIntosh working Intel CPU+ AMD GPU" macOS has better AMD Graphics Drivers to my knowledge

Please cover MacOS VMs. Lots of devs need virtualised MacOS environments.

Thank you, Chris. I "bled six colors" (as we used to say based on the rainbow apple symbol) from 1987 to Win 95. I liked WindowMaker and GNUStep.

What do you mean Fail? Looks like it worked to me, the desktop was there and the menus popped up.

Thanks, Chris. Since I have Linux, Mac, and Windows machines, and probably always will, this is fun and interesting.

The best hackintosh PCs are those with Intel CPUs and AMD GPUs. My hackintosh (which used to be my Sister's gaming PC) has an i5 4690, AMD Radeon R9 280x, 16GB of DDR3, and an Asus Sabertooth Mark 2 Z97 and with Mojave EVERYTHING except USB 3.0 and audio worked out of the box. To get USB 3.0 I just had to install a couple kexts while Audio was a bit of a PITA to get working but I did eventually get it to work.

I am thinking about this type of video you should make and here you are...

I've never tried this, but there is an interesting Youtube channel on this topic called Morgonaut. The host says that her method is usually successful, but she adds that she generally uses Intel cpus and Radeon gpus. This makes sense because Apple uses the same hardware.

1) Is it legal to have all Hackintosh PC's in a company?

2) Is it legal for a company to provide a custom build Hackintosh services if the client provides the hardware?

I highly recommend that you stay off of any macOS distro, some have even included malware !
Please do a vanilla install.

There were people in my class back in 2010 that tried to make a Hackintosh. Back then I was an Apple "fan boy". And had a real Mac. What they taught me is that it is very unstable to run Mac OS that way. Especially cuz back then most PCs were BIOS. But Mac OS was already using UEFI/EFI. So there was a lot of hacking around that that needed to be done. Even now that I'm on full time Linux, if I ever wanted to run Mac, I'd try to save my money to get a refurbished Mac. Since there is no way on my job I'd ever be able to afford a brand new one. Right now tho I am happy on my Linux. And really see no need for Mac.

Failure is a major part of experimenting. Had a brief use of mac OS, seemed a bit interesting and different, but that's about it. I'll stick to linux

You are not locked to the version of MacOS you install. If you installed Vanilla MacOS you can update using the Mac Appstore if you have your loaded Kexts injected through Clover Bootloader. Unless you install it on a AMD machine, in which case, you are locked to the version you install because of the Kernel. Surprisingly Apple completely switched to AMD only in their Macs, so unless you have a 600 series or older Nvidia card, you will not be able to boot MacOS with GPU acceleration on an Nvidia Card, unless you Install High Sierra or older and use the Nvidia Web Drivers. Hackintosh has changed alot in the past couple years.

A hackintosh is VERY TIME INTENSIVE to get running. The catch is, if you are willing to go far enough down the rabbit hole, you can get it to run on just about anything. I have even seen it run on those no name Chinese dual xeon motherboards that are marketed as dual x79 (they actually use a C602 chipset). My only question is whether or not I'm willing to go far enough down that rabbit hole. My current system is running LTSC 2019 and other than getting reacquainted with windows I have no issues (yet).

I actually have a REALLY OLD 3.1 mac pro that is a little to long in the tooth. I built my current system because I can't afford the new mac pro, didn't want another used system, and hate the imac form factor. One day I might take the hackintosh plunge just to see what happens. If I can get a vanilla install to run stable, I might leave windows again.

Just so you know, AMD GPU's tend to work better in macOS now because Apple have moved from using Nvidia chips to AMD.

Also, some of the 6xx and 7xx GTX cards will work on Mojave and later, however anything below the 6xx series or above the 7xx series will not work as they were dropped from Mojave.

So basically, it used to be "get an Nvidia GPU for hackintosh". Nowdays, it's "get an AMD card for hackintosh".

Almost every RX4xx/5xx higher should work basically out of the box on a hackintosh.
