Audio Fundamentals - Signal Flow

Basic run through of signal flow and why it helps you to know how everything is routed and patched within a system.

OUTLINE:

• Signal Flow/Signal Chain (will be more specific in Dante)
o Knowing how things are routed and hooked up is an important part of troubleshooting
o A basic chain – Input transducer, console or convert, output transducer
o Signal chains can be massive (much like most campuses will be) or as simple as one microphone and a set of speakers.
o The point is realizing where something starts and following through to where it ends, troubleshooting will always be easier if you know where to look
