First, check the Recycle Bin. If it's not there, then do what's said in this video. I have a habit of pressing Shift-Del because I don't want a bunch of junk taking up space in the Recycle Bin, so I'd have to resort to data recovery software.

From my experience deleted data (not in recycle bin or if disk was formatted) are recoverable with HDDs. With SSDs due to the TRIM function and how the OS utilizes it, recovery is virtually impossible. This is another reason to better spend money on a NAS in the first place instead of data recovery software after the damage is done.

Hmm Brian on one hand a great software to use but on the other hand scarily obvious that someone can use it to get data from any drive you ditch for recycling even if you have formatted it before taking it for that purpose - unless you incapacitate it by physically damaging the drive internals so much that it is impossible for any to recover data from any part of it. But I am guessing that many individuals would not go to those lengths when disposing their old drives.

Good thing I always back up my data, I have an external SSD that I always use but I sync all of my media to an iPad as well so I can play it there

Did you say the software allows you to recover up to 2 gb of data freely? I have a 2 gb SD card that got zap by a windows program and the files are unreadable.

Can you recover xls file from profile that was deleted? IE 3 users on pc and ran out of space so I deleted old user, unaware current user was updating xls from 2018 stored in that old user profile, also used cleanmgr function as well. I tried Recuva but failed to recover it from C: where os files were stored on. But I notice you did say that you cannot recover from OS drive or where this program is installed in, which implies that you have to shutdown and take that drive out to put into another working pc.
