Petco vs Pet Smart for a Betta Fish

What’s crazy is that my house was being remodeled bc there was a leakage so we were packing everything to live somewhere else temporarily but we could not find the beta fish we had. So we still didn’t tell my brother it’s missing. We moved back in 2 days ago after 4 months but when we were opening the boxes to move back in we found the beta fish. It was packed in the box and it was… alive. And that was just 2 days ago like. It was there for 4 whole months and is now happy and alive sitting on the table in a tank. :) this fish outlived my hamster 🥲

I just bought a transparent betta fish. I thought he was white in the store but that was just the white background I was seeing THROUGH him 😭

I went to one petsmart and the whole entire shelf was sick or dead fish. Petco had healthy and more selection of fishes. Back at petsmart, I told the worker her fishes were dead, and she said she'll check in the back for live ones. She lied and was avoiding me.

In the shop I go to every Betta fish has a 5 gallon tank

PetSmart and PetCo are never my first options for fish. Particularly the bettas, because they are in such poor condition from being abused. I prefer certain private owned businesses because the ones in my area take much better care of their animals

They all seem healthy and active, and honestly it's tempting to give every single one of them a good home

Hopefully one day I'll get the chance to adopt a betta into a nice 10 gallon planted tank or maybe even my 20 long

This isn’t that bad compared to mine, in mine each Betta fish had a small little cup they could barely swim in

I went to pets mart 2 days ago and saw the betas there was no more but the only ones I saw were dead ones in the bowl and they were definitely dead in there not sleeping!

And if it is kept in glass jar is it a problem?

I bought my first beta from a pet store I didn't realize at the time he is albino time he was out by know or how corrupt pet stores were buddies now have being a 40-gallon tank all by himself and his snail friends .

I feel bad for the bettas they don’t even get a tank like everyone else. I used to have bettas and this was because bettas (especially males) are territorial so they’re kinda hard to store but fck a small tank with a forest pattern would be nice not just some shitty limbo.
