Elvis was just 34 back then. They were just 27 or 28. It's crazy

John: "I seem to be catching up to him."

They have always been vocal on how they admired and respected Elvis. I love the part where Paul says "god bless our gracious king" (referring to Elvis). In that line alone shows how much they appreciated and respected him.

For those wondering what Elvis song Paul is imitating, the answer is none. He says, "Well, any old time of day, all you wanna hear me say, it’s crazy baby, it’s crazy, yeah.” These lyrics are not from any Elvis songs, as far as I know.

Love the John salute, no second guessing, on the spot. Those guys LOVED Elvis through and through, they were Elvis fan boys from their teens. And even though Elvis talked a little shit about the Beatles at times, it meant nothing. Elvis knew how great they were too, and he sang some Beatle songs. Something, Hey Jude… The only other 60s rocker Elvis ever covered was Dylan. He didn’t cover any Stones or anyone else in the rock world besides Dylan and the Beatles, and that says it all.

When John recorded “Starting Over” in 1980, he said he was doing his Elvis thing. In 2001 on CNN, Larry King asked Paul which artists he loved, and without blinking Paul said “Elvis Presley, the King.”

They never stopped loving Elvis either. In 1980 when John recorded “Starting Over, ” he said he was doing his Elvis thing. In 2001 on CNN, Larry King asked Paul his favorite artists and without blinking he says, “Elvis Presley, the King.” Skip up to 1:35 in this clip:

If Elvis was "The King" what were The Beatles?

They were fans of him. They knew his birthday AND his actual age, at least Paul.

Paul es tenor y Elvis era un barítono. A los tenores les cuesta imitar bien el cuerpo, el peso, la oscuridad de la voz baritonal.

He sounds more like elvis than elvis himself

Paul would be second fiddle to Elvis - a warm up act maybe!
