The Fast & The Furious is loosely based on an article in a magazine about street clubs that race Japanese cars late at night. Domenic Toretto is the leader of a street gang that is under suspicion of stealing expensive electronic equipment. Brian O'Connor is an undercover police officer attempts to find out who exactly is stealing the equipment, while falling for Domenic's younger sister, Mia.

I love how car focused/street racing focused this 1st film was. Everyone owned ONE car, and took pride in it. Not like the later ones, just turning up with a new super car every scene.

To think, here Dom laughs at the idea of respect, but by film 8, he tells a guy that he beat that his respect was good enough for him. Really shows how much character development Dom had & how much of an influence Brian had on him
