Luka Doncic - Fantastic Footwork/Crafty Creator

Luka Doncic is as dynamic a playmaker as the league has ever seen. His accomplishments coming over from Europe as a TEENAGER are unreal: EuroLeague champion, EuroLeague MVP, EuroLeague Final Four MVP, All-EuroLeague First Team, 3x Liga ACB Champion (arguably the second best league in the world), Liga ACB MVP, as well as helping guide Slovenia to its first EuroBasket championship in 2017.

First of all, Luka is phenomenal because his footwork is fantastic, and that is the foundation for everything. He puts himself in prime position and uses pristine pump and pass fakes results in the simplest of splits and the sweetest of stepthroughs. He keeps around the defense so off-balance that he can just dance around defenders. He’s crafty, and clever, and so cagey with where he’s going to go and what he’s going to do that the opposition has no chance of staying in front of him. Plus, Doncic is a visionary. His vision is scary. He started a revolution in Dallas, throwing lobs to the air ways, elevating the Mavs to another level. So let’s all just revel in the fact that this kid can throw the greatest every kind of pass. I guess to sum up, the sky is the limit for Luka, and his ability to “make defenders miss” may continue to mystify the league for years to come.

I know Jordan is the GOAT standard, by far. But Larry Bird was my personal favorite all-time player. I have never uttered these words in my life, and never thought I would, but dare I say I see a bit of Larry in some of his play? I love great footwork. Duncan is another favorite of mine. Watching Luka brings me joy.

6:13 Just wanna point this out. Most players (like Harden) would see the defender make the mistake of jumping and as such, would attempt to jump into them and cause an midair collision, which is scary and can hurt somebody. Props to Luka for not doing that and keeping the ball on the ground.

It’s fascinating to watch Luca play. He moves like he’s stop motion animation. It kinda looks like someone cut frames out of his movements. I’m almost positive he’s mostly robotic with some human scruff grafted to his chin
