Hey guys, So today's question is from Rahul, Guwahati and he asks 'Can I do M.Tech after MCA? I am having hard time getting a job after MCA'
Rahul, the short answer is yes; you can do M.Tech that is Master of Technology after MCA which is Master of Computer Applications. For that, you can apply for GATE exam that is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. The GATE eligibility requirements do consider MCA postgraduates as eligible
Based on your GATE score you can get admission in M.Tech. in various universities or colleges, including IITs. Here are all the relevant eligibility requirements taken right from the GATE official website.
It says candidates having Master's degree in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent are eligible for GATE exam.
You may apply for the exam even when you are in final year of MCA. The exam is conducted in february or march of every year but its application forms are released several months before that, so do keep that in mind. Also, there are a few colleges that give admissions in M.Tech. based on other criteria rather than GATE scores, but to have much wider options I suggest you go the GATE way.
Good luck.
