Too bad that the most interesting car makers have disappeared into history, I really appreciate people who cherish these.

Cord and Auburn vehicles were absolutely beautiful machines. Made in Indiana. About 20 years ago we went to the museum which used to be the headquarters of the company in Auburn, IN.

Amelia Earhart drove a Cord. Apparently cared for it like her airplanes.

Many years ago I went to work in a shop that was in the middle of restoring an 812 Beverly. I share your fondness for these specimens....

A friend of mine built a model of a yellow Cord 810 when we were about 8 or 9. I’d never seen the real thing before now

It's beautiful! Love the complicated gear changing! For I very not enjoy automatic gearboxes.

Similar gear box to the old RT and Route master London Buses.

Even though it's an easy car to drive, the shifter would be a theft deterant.
People don't know what a pre-selecter is, or how to use it.

That's reminiscent of a Tucker almost. 87 years old and truly amazing

Batman: The Animated Series made me fall in love with this car.

It's a pre-select gearbox and the pedal is not a clutch pedal but a gear change pedal. The Military had a few vehicles with them many years ago. Things like the Ferret, ?Saracen and Saladin.

Sadly, they went into production before it was ready. President Roosevelt pushed the industry to start the yearly auto shows earlier than normal in 1935 to spur on the economy. Cord didn't have all the bugs out. My dad said every time he saw a Cord in the day, it was behind a tow truck.
