Your fan cable routing block the air flow to the fins

Wires are blocking airflow through the fins directly to the fan... I wouldn't run the wires like that.

The fan cable is that long so it can go in a cable tray built in to the underside of the main (middle) part of the case.

Notable omission in this test is noise comparisons. While I do care about cooling performance, the Pi Active Cooler is quite loud when it kicks in. I'd love to know what the Argon case sounded like under stress testing.

Is the extra wire blocking airflow from the fan to the fins on the heatsink?

Could you redo the test with the excess wire over by the GPIO pins instead and see if it makes a difference? (Edit: or in the cable tray that someone else mentioned.)

The great thing about the Argon cases is that when the chip is idling, the fan does not need to run at all. Fans will eventually wear out, so the less you run them, the longer they last. I have the Argon 1 m.2 for the Pi 4 and really like it. I hope they come up with a version like this for the Pi. Having a case with full-size HDMI, everything on the back, and a real M.2 would be great.
The one thing that has always bothered me about the Argon aluminum cases is that nobody really mentions how the metal affects the WiFi. I usually use a wired connection, so not a huge deal for me.

Terrific price. If I haven't already bought the active cooler, this case is definitely the way to go.

It will be great when Raspberry pi 5 itself will cost not 120+ $. With this price + case price you can buy some mini PC.

I ordered my first raspberry pi a few days ago. Got the Pi 5 4gb. Planning to hook it up in the living room to use as an emulator station for my dad to play his SNES and GameCube games.

This case does look nice. However, I pre-ordered the Argon One v3 Case for my 8GB Raspberry Pi 5 when I saw that was available. Can't wait for it to ship at the end of January.

I am curious if there is an opening in the shroud around the fan and 'Heatsink' fins? The cable you ran could possibly blocking airflow if that is the case.

I love the Argon One case for my Pi 4 and I have already preordered an Argon One for my preordered Pi 5

Argon in my opinion builds the best cases for the pi’s, I’ve never been disappointed 👍🏻

Isn't the fan on the Argon a "blower", the same as the official active cooler? If so, the cable routing you have chosen may be blocking the outlet of the fan. Move the cable and rerun the test. I would expect the Argon to run cooler still.

Would like to see a noise measurement on the fan. This is the critical issue for me.

Nice case however I'm waiting for other one from them. I'm waiting for the one that will utilise that PCIe to connect nvm ssd.

Not having the access/ability to use the Pcie slot on Pi5 with the help of Argon case is a missed opportunity if you ask me. Argon could have included some slot at the bottom to attach NVME SSD to make it a complete package.

Hoping Retroflag makes a pi5 specific version of their NESpi4 case.

Raspberry Pi 5 cases are good. Emulation testing is even better ✌️

Great video 🎉 ❤

I had a question about this specific case:

With the case top hat closed, is there a slot for pcie flex cable to come out?

And if we use SSD hats with the Pi5, in what state we can use this case (Hat open / closed) ?

Case looks good to me when closed, so I would like to know about these results.
