The Gerda G1000 - So tough Bill hasn't even gotten the box open.

At least that gerda company is standing behind their locks by sending you a new one with higher tolerances.

Looks like they enjoy seeing skilled lock smiths have a hard time getting in to prove the quality they've made. Best advertising for them

The funny thing is that, where i live (in Poland) everyone, literally everyone has those gerda locks. Yeah, as you can guess lockpicking is not the most popular theft method here

Just saw LPL's video about your retirement. I've been watching your videos for years - I think this might be the first one I watched. Thanks for providing so much entertainment and information over the years! We'll miss ya. Here's to a peaceful retirement.

Love how Gerda responded to you. That lock is a beast, and it's only got better over time. I hope you can get the first one picked if even by complete luck, just so you can try out the new version.

Absolutely BRUTAL, Best of Luck YOUNG Men. I faced medico, and Abloy, in the 70's and 80's, this new stuff is for You Young Gifted Hands. I have seen Videos, that You would NOT Beleive, unless You saw. There are some super gifted people out there.

Serious mechanical nightmares! A dose of reality and humbling when we get too cocky. These were awesome, especally the ones with the pins right on the warding lip!

I came here to see what a "naughty" lock is

Nice collection Bill! I've picked a Banham before, I think you should disassemble it as it's not as complex as you might think.
When picking it, make sure you don't stick a pick between the opposing pins, they have to stay touching (hence the holes in the key). I filed a half-ball pick to grip the pins without separating them. The hard part is the feedback... very little

Things i've noticed after watching all these videos "We Europeans take our lock security way too seriously"

You should loan out that Mauer to LPL. The guy makes mt5 locks look like master #5. It be nice to see him stumped on a high security dimple for once.

So are these locks made for the safety conscious or for the pickers?

Looks like I was part of the youtube unsub bug that was going around. I was wondering why I hadn't seen a vid in months. Glad to be back in the loop now though, and happy to see I have a lot of watching to do to catch up again.

Hey when you want to see the inside of the key hole and are having trouble with getting light into it just use fiber optic lighting. You can literally go and get one of those cheap fiber lamps and take a single strand and shove it into the lock hole.

Good to know that there are real locks to be had.
Expecting my first set of picks and tensioners in the mail, this week. I love puzzles!

I actually once scoured your channel looking for a success re-attempt of the Gerda Tytan, as I'm familiar with that exact lock (but also with a built-in break-in alarm circuit :D). That variant actually needs picking three times - once for the steel peek-hinge and then twice for the main lock. At three rotations, it's unopenable from the inside of the house, so if someone breaks in through the window, they'll have to carry your stereo out the same way ;) and if they try to force open the door, the built in alarm sounds and (optionally) can send a signal over a cable tot he rest of the sec system. Neat... :D
