So wanna like the unit but on the strength of this demo the antique Roland GR300 as used by Andy Summers still sounds way more musical, underground, promising. Bottom line: unimpressed. But not owning the Helix makes it impossible for me to talk realistically about potential, would love to sit down with the Native version on a Mac and investigate. Meanwhile and until then surfing YT for synth emulations from the Helix turns up generally dire reverb-drowned atmospheres which would disgrace Omnisphere, Diva, Dmitry Sches Thorn, Prophet X. Come on Roland, rescue experimental guitarists from the disappointment of Fishman Tripleplay (with its nonfunctional software letting down brill tracking). The GR55 still does an acceptable job of triggering midi synths in say Logic for someone looking to fly off into the sonic unknown. What we need now is a GR55 with something like Diva, Thorn, Omnisphere or Serum inside. And plz, plz plz no wifi nonsense which fails on stage so you're left standing with a dead axe out of range suddenly, NO!!! Just reinvent the 13 pin GR cable in a slinky version and we're there in fret-satori ;-)

Cool features but the price point still seems off. Not getting into manufacturing costs and all that but still seems far off for most users that would reach for line6

I'd happily trade all the cheap sounding oscillators in the Helix for something that sounded like a REAL string pad. Also - we need LFO control over the levels to add a human touch to them. Even with some of the fx blocks afterward - they sound so uh, cheap, sterile, non-musical, crappy, to say the least. And you "tout" this as if it were a treasured feature of the Helix? Line 6 - you can REALLY do much better, come on.

Where is 13 pin pitch-to-midi? So much DSP, modeling guitars, synth guys on staff, and no pitch-to-midi. When you make a processor that lets me plug in my Godin LGXTsa then I will consider it. Otherwise no.

I can see this really taking off with the gigging a complex croc. So in synth mode it has to avoid your pre amp ...so can only be used in 4 cable method....which is crap cos volume controlled by device.
Advice: Buy a cheap synth and four Boss pedals on eBay. Good to go.
Don't be swayed by the G.A.S demon.
