Calculating CFM or Velocity from Area
The formula to calculate the linear velocity of a fan is v=Q/A
v: Is the linear velocity
w: Is the angular velocity
•r: Is the distance from the axis of rotation to the tip of the fan blade
For example, if a fan rotates at 100 revolutions per minute (rpm) and the tip of its blade is 0.20 meters from the axis of rotation, then the linear velocity is 2.092 meters per second.
Here are some other formulas related to fans:
Fan velocity pressure
1/2 * density * V2, where:
Density: Is the air density in kg/m3
• V: Is the air velocity at the fan in m/sec
Air velocity
V = 1096.7/hu/d, where:
• V: Is the velocity
#hvac #airconditioningsystem #airflow
• d: Is the density of air in the application
• hv: Is the velocity pressure from the measuring device
