They can do the most important thing: Ditch Chris Chibnall

Since we are going to have a female doctor, I would introduce #6: Just as the gender of the Doctor was never a focus for a plot device in over 50 years, please ensure it doesn't become one now.

Totally agree about the spoilers. The BBC doesn't realise the injustice they do the show. We find out about every new companion, special character and doctor months before. It kills the thrill. Why not just keep quiet and let us enjoy the surprise when we watch the show? I was so disappointed when they announced the new doctor - not because it was woman but because they did it over 6 months before she'll debut!

I want to see Jenny the Doctor's daughter come back. So much potential in that character.

All I want to see is the 13th doctor get hit on by captain Jack.

I wanted to like this, but you mocked Donna.

Here's a suggestion: Bring back true sci-fi and pure historicals to the show. It's become too much of a disguised fantasy over the years.

"Get excited, its gonna be great!" well, that comment has aged really well

I see no problem with having a female Doctor as long as the writers don't constantly rub our noses in it like, "Oh look at us, we made an iconic character female. Praise us for how progressive and politically correct we're being!"

Here are my suggestions I like to add to your list since we are now getting a female doctor:
1) explore more mature themes and ditch the family friendly route this show has taken over the years.
2) I don't want characters being wisecracks and trying to be funny in every other line of dialogue, it gets annoying fast. Why can't characters try to be sincere, curious, mysterious, cunning, cute etc for a change?
3) All the political and feminist aspects of the show need to be toned down. I don't want running jokes centring on the fact that a character is gay (I'm looking at you Bill), man shaming, and on the nose political speeches about wealth inequality, war etc.
4) I want less expository dialogue. That means no more of those blackboard lecture speeches and less of those scenes where characters talk and all they do is exchange information (which goes on for quite a while by the way). Instead what I want is characters talking more about their struggles, goals, desires etc.
5) Although I see the doctor having a paternal relationship with the people he interacts with, since the doctor is a woman now I want the maternal side to be explored as well.
6) Just because the doctor is a woman now, I don't wanna see her characterised in an SJW way like most cliche female leads in TV shows nowadays. I want her to be strong and independent in her own feminine way rather than resort to man shaming.

Death isn't final in Doctor Who anymore. No death means no jeopardy! You can't just resurrect every mortal all the time! I was pleased that Bill died in the cyber-suit, but now shes back at christmas and another immortalised companion travelling the universe on their own?! GET OFF.
I don't mind River making further, very rare appearances, but I seriously think Jack has a place back in the Tardis. His story is far from over, plus, he could become a bridge between the Doctor and a very straight forward (human) companion. We also haven't seen what really happened to Jacks brother, or why the Time Agency have wiped his mind! We could even see Jack lose his cheap and nasty time travel in the Maldorvarium.
Or we could just have an 8th Doctor series where he travels with Madam Vastra...

People aren't up in arms (mostly) about the Doctor's switch to female, they are up in arms over the fear it will become the focus, and if it does then yes the series will take a drastic fall and this arc will need trimming.

You were a bit harsh on the Ponds, they were pretty decent bystanders. And you were a bit soft on Bill, they made her a freakin space god....

RTD AND Classic era Who: Scary stories, funny stories, dramatic stories, tragic stories, a mix of all.
Moffat era Who:
Hopefully Chibnall goes back to the basics.

God I hope nothing big is announced by the BBC from now on! The finale of Season 10 would've been more affective and exciting if we didn't know John Simm was to return as the Master. I would've jumped out of my seat and screamed like I used to at the older seasons when Simm revealed himself (as I was younger and didn't use the internet, so I never knew when things were announced) but because I knew he was returning, it was nowhere near as affective as it should've been. I know it wasn't 100% the BBC's fault, but in that case they need to be better and keeping secrets :/

Number One: MAKE IT FUN AGAIN!
I'm really sick of all these 'edgy' plotlines about the Doctor's dark side. Yeah, the Doctor can have their serious moments but thats alongside being fun and silly. Moffat loves to say 'ooh isn't he so brooding and troubled' but doing nothing about it!

I swear if the Doctor solves one more problem by just telling the monster to go away, I will bring the full force of all of those undefeated monsters down on the writers' heads.
