Randy Moss announces cancer battle, says he has undergone successful surgery

andy Moss, the Hall of Fame wide receiver and ESPN analyst, revealed that he has been battling cancer and recently underwent successful surgery. In an emotional Instagram Live on Friday, Moss shared details of his health journey, explaining that doctors discovered cancer in his bile duct during an unrelated procedure. Moss had been in the hospital for six days before being released and expressed gratitude for the support he received from his family, friends, and fans.

Moss, who has been an analyst on Sunday NFL Countdown since 2016, announced last week that he would be stepping away indefinitely from his role due to health reasons. During the Live, he explained that he had been treated for a separate medical issue related to his liver when doctors found cancer cells in his bile duct. He underwent a successful six-hour surgery, known as a Whipple procedure, to remove the cancerous cells. Moss acknowledged that chemotherapy and radiation were part of his recovery process but expressed optimism about his prognosis.

Throughout the Live, Moss encouraged people, especially Black men, to prioritize their health by staying on top of checkups and blood work. He also shared that proceeds from his "Let's Moss Cancer" merchandise, which features a lavender ribbon to represent cancer awareness, would go toward cancer research. Moss concluded by expressing his goal to return to ESPN once he has recovered.
