Just bought an old mercedes van with a 5 cylinder diesel. It hadn’t been started since january, was stored for 2 years prior to that, barely used since 1998 and only driven 64 000 km. The battery was completely dead. Jumpstarted it and it fired up after 1 second. Brought it home and now I drive it daily on vegetable oil 🤩

Sadly I have nosy neighbors who complain about it being parked at the road outside the house. Time to find somewhere else to live…

Those old mercedes are tanks, im probably gonna buy a w124 300d turbo it was sitting since 4 years and it start like no issue

My grandpa had two of these back in Yugoslavia. He bought a yellow 200d and in 1981 he drove 113.000 kilometers with it. Bought with 25.000 and sold with 300.000 kilometers. Never had problems with them.

Valve clearance job is a must on this engine - there were an intake pops while cranking - one of the cylinders must have overtightened intake valve.

I was preparing to go work then I saw your video, I called in sick. Very great content by the way!
I don't know about eco-friendly and electric, but I'm a proud w123 200D owner and I will drive old diesels till the day I die. Just listen to that synchronized diesel knocking .. What a joy!
Keep starting those old things and bringing them back to life.
I started mine after 25 years also.
