Steam deck is a really fun little device. Ive modded mine thoroughly, from changing out the thermal paste to a honeywell phase change material pad, to replacing the SSD with a 512gb version, replacing the backplate to a jsaux thermal dissipation one, to making it a dual boot version with windows 10. Really fun to customise this little thing and quite affordable too

As an IT man, the fact that the Steam Deck is a whole computer is extremely impressive. I've used it for work, and linux has been the OS I've wanted to work with for a long time.
Love the Steam Deck.

The steam deck is probably like the only console where you can mod it to change firmware/operating systems and stuff without having to worry about getting the console banned. The specs of the steam deck are massive for that price and the gaming is impressive I never saw a console like the steam deck before.

I'm in the army, and i have no acces to gaming consoles throughout the week. This video has sold me, just purchased the 2nd model SteamDeck. 🤝

How many videos are people going to make asking this? Should you buy a steamdeck in March? Should you buy a steamdeck this summer? Should you buy a steamdeck ever? Valve put a lot of money into this handheld. It has sold very well. They are not releasing better hardware this year and probably not next year. No console maker does this and that’s what valve pushes this as. A console. Period.

The base steam deck + a good SD card is unbelievable value, there is not a single device in the world that offers the power and easy of playing as much as the steam deck. The games are cheaper than elsewhere and no subscription crap

I love my Steam Deck. But as someone who's been a console gamer all their life, I'm sad that I don't need to go into a video game store anymore. There's no reason to, except to get goodies maybe.

Digital games are convenient and cheap, of course. But I miss picking up a brand new game in my favorite retail store, on release day. Going home and opening the box, adding it to my collection. Being able to touch the games that I own. It's been 9 months since I got my Steam Deck and yet this feeling still hasn't gone away.

Having the top tier Steam Deck for 6 months I can highly recommend it. It's not nearly as good as my main rig but it's easily better then my Switch

I really like watching Steam Deck's vídeos, I personally don't have much interest in buying one, I bought a Switch since the library is more interesting for me, but I'm really happy we live in a time where we have a portable computer like this.

I actually like what RGT 85 said. He said “stop pinning the steam deck & the Nintendo switch up against each other like it’s suppose to be a competition. They are actually complimentary to each other. What the steam deck doesn’t have, Nintendo has. And what Nintendo has, the steam deck doesn’t. So in other words, both the steam deck & switch go hand in hand as far as gaming goes.”

Got mine Monday after work. Spent Tuesday setting it up and calibrating the battery. Have run into almost no issues with games. Other then occasionally having to use the touch screen while docked. Speaking of dock I didn't buy a steam deck dock, wich is nice that you don't have to use one from valve and it will probably work fine. Got one with more ports then the normal dock, wich is handy since I'm using my deck as a couch co-op console for my children and I. Worth the purchase allready!

The truth of the matter is with all of the other platform dev companies that want to compete with the Steam Deck (or Valve for that matter) there are several benchmarks they would have to contend with. Not just one or two but several ie; library size, usability, price, peripherals, modability of software, modability of hard ware, etc. How many other gaming companies are going to let you install an additional operating system? or remove the default one? Open up your device to swap the hard drive for a bigger one without a hefty premium? Or knowing companies like Sony and Apple; make everything super proprietary so they can control the market? Valve set the bar extremely high for the next gen handhelds... which they have already started working on no less!

I just got the 256gb model and as a PC gamer normally, I'm absolutely loving my Steam Deck and barely ever play on my PC now. The convenience and portability is just unbeatable. And being able to smoothly play games like Red Dead Redemption 2, you can't ask for much more out of a handheld. I bought a 1TB micro SD card and in the future I'll most likely upgrade to the 2TB internal SSD. 10/10 would recommend!

2:37 i think you mean the series s xbox which isn’t the older xbox one s, the series s is just a 1440p/no disc drive version of the series x. Great value, but still id go for steamdeck. 🤔

Definitely loving mine. Got the 512GB Model just about a week ago and can't put it down. There's so much to love, and from someone that's used to playing on low-end laptops I'm at home with this, cause to me it's a huge upgrade from what I currently have.

But yeah if you've used steam for years and already have a huge library it's so cool getting the steam deck for the first time and just having hundreds of games ready to download and play. By far the best value for gaming! I pre-ordered Resident Evil 4 Remake, can't wait to see if it plays on the deck!

Steam Deck is nice but keep in mind that you do not own digital games. Once Steam is gone then all your games are GONE. Physical games lasts forever and can be sold as used. They have their pros and cons

was holding off since launch to get a steam deck as I figured the improvement for a steam deck 2 would be crazy to just hold on but now a new handheld ROG Ally that came outta no where it kinda looks like and the main differences being, Not steamOS, not that big community for/plugins/fixes, and it being a windows device. I am not sure if you can be able to open it and change the parts easily like a deck and also rely on the support valve and the community it has to fix issues with plugins and guides.

This is my big worry for the ROG Ally even though it being almost 2x better than the deck in every aspect. Having a little community and the company just releasing it and not further developing the handheld beyond.

I would suggest waiting for those looking into a Steam deck that can hold on a bit to see the ROG Ally stream on May 11 where they will probably go in further depth of the device and also confirm the price of it. Also those who don't care about the ROG ally, you should just wait for a sale on the deck. It's enough sale to where you can buy the deck at a cut and use that cut $ to buy a big sd card with it or accessories like a screen protector etc..

The problem of the other handhelds is that while some of them are in fact more powerful than the steam deck, they are also less efficient, wich means that generally speaking, they need more TDP to get the same performance of the deck, not to mention they need to go soooo high in wattage consumption to bypass that performance, wich means you are going to drain the battery a lot faster than the deck, to get the same or better performance, so i think its not a good deal in the portable context, because you are going to need to spend double the price to get better performance but at the cost of a ridicuouls battery life for a handhelds.

Two words for a mind blowing deck experience, Decky and cryo. Easy to add and makes this device so customizable that paired with emulation, this is the most versatile gaming machine.
