The SpaceX Starbase Water Deluge System recently had its debut full test with a massive amount of water When the Starship Super Heavy rocket takes off its 33 Raptor engines generate an incredible 17 million pounds of force resulting in a breathtaking surge of heat and thunderous noise The company has implemented a smart solution to protect the rocket and launch pad from this extreme noise and heat during ignition and liftoff by using a spray system creating a shield of water

Like the one used since the 1960s by NASA?

That’s not a new concept. NASA has been using that technique for decades to protect rockets and shuttles from noise damage.

The Apollo program designed and developed it, not SpaceX

OMG. Google Saturn V launch pad.
Musk invented it's just physics.

Saturn V Moon rocket at ignition and liftoff "Hold my beer!"😊

Geez, they developed a water deluge system....like 60 years after NASA did.

everyone told them they would need something.... but space x first had to make there own mistake.
smart people learn from other people's mistakes.

Not an original idea. Was first used by the navy on ships to protect them from radiation. The only difference is that the navy sprayed millions of gallons of seawater but space x is probably hooked up to county water.

Like NASA with the Saturn Rocket in the 60s you mean that's clever of them wonder where they got the idea from 😮

Misrepresented 17 million pounds (lbf) at liftoff. When I convert these types of measurements to metric tons of force, Apollo rocks yield bigger figures. I get the feeling the narrator is including the sum of all engines as if ignited together for liftoff. That could be the error.

NASA invented the water deluge system but it actually worked, unlike space X which tore apart the launch pad.

Yeah, what he said. Water's been used for that ever since Columbus... 🤔

The primary purpose of the water deluge is to protect the rocket and tower from acoustic damage. The engine exhaust was redirected with what they called a flame trench. SpaceX still doesn't have that. This system still is not going to end well.

Technology dating back at least to the 1960s, and in use for Saturn V launches. The really interesting question is why didn’t SpaceX do this to begin with?

When it comes time for SpaceX to have 1, 000 ships in space, how long does it take to fill the deluge system? Can they use the Atlantic Ocean’s water?

Ingenious ...lol. It's a desperate band aid solution for their stupid tiny launch pad.

Jets of water are used to cut metal. Wonder how fast the platform will be cut to pieces with 33 raptor engines blasting the water full throttle?
