Great information! Never thought about logging maintenance as a credit to getting IA.

Great episode; solid guest, and discussion. After watching each presentation, I enjoy “chair-flying” the show by listening just to the audio, like a a podcast, while working. I’m usually surprising myself with what I may have missed the first go-around. Keep up the consistent work! 🇺🇸✈️😎👍

As a new aircraft owner I’d like to see how everyone else keeps and tracks maintenance and log books with ADs.

This is excellent information. Thanks for doing the video.

This show is simply underrated. I love all the discussions about flying and ownership. It is so informative no matter the viewers skill level.

Just doing a few years of preventive maintenance will not qualify you for your mechanic certificate. You will need documented proof signed by an A&P of doing more complex tasks as well. And the hours will need to add up to the required amount. Only doing simple preventative mx on your own airplane will never get you there. No matter how many times you do it.

Interesting discussion the mechanic is right do you have the "CURRENT" manuals? However, are the manuals current in the cloud? Do you have the proper tools (torque wrench calibrated). Preventive maintenance is fine but owners must have the same tools and equipment as the A&P part 43.13 rules calls this out. Too many owners do “maintenance” and never record it. Recording maintenance is a major issue and part 43.9 requires it for owners as well. Using YouTube as a maintenance guide is really bad sorry to say.

This was a great overview of a very interesting topic. Well done.

Great, great video. I never looked at the separate log book for experience/time credit.

Dan, Loved this episode, we need more of this type.

This show remembers me my Aeroclub in Palermo in Italy, we have inside the hangar a recreational
room with couches and a fireplace, often oldest pilots telling stories, sharing experiences, and young pilots listening like nephews with granpa.

Me (Pre 11:22): This nice guy is giving out some good info. Me (Post 11:22): What a jerk!

I love these videos. I would like to see the same topic in relation to Experimental and Light Sport applications. Who can do what and who can sign off on what.

04:20 “Hello, Christy? This is the FSDO. You’re grounded.” 🤣😂😅

Bill forgot to mention the responsibility's of entering and signing for maintenance carried out. When you sign something as done you are responsible if anything untoward happens to that aircraft from your work.

This is one of the best videos you have made.
That logging time for maintenance can lead to IA or AP is great.
Thanks for sharing.

The list provided by the FAA of things a pilot may do is not all-inclusive. Meaning we can do a lot more then the ~30 items on that list. Please research the The Coleal interpretation by the FAA. This explains that pilots under part 91 (GA) may do much more then what is listed.

Okay, what about those of us who own aircraft without factory service manuals?

Was looking forward to hearing some specific things an owner could do but nothing was covered. Still enjoy the show 👍🏼

@SFilmsTakingOff Another great episode! It would have been better if Dan had some examples of a proper verbose log entry.
