No joke me and a mate pulled off a similar move by parking a brute chopper in the room, and so we immediately road-killed the boss. We could not stop laughing for the rest of the game session.

I hate cutscenes like that in video games. Not the realtime part, the part where the enemy just instantly appears behind your character out of literally nowhere.

There's a setup in Breath of the wild speedruns for the final boss where you can shoot an arrow at the exact right point and time before the cutscene, causing the arrow to freeze and deal constant damage to the boss during the cutscene making it die before the fight even starts

I managed to bring along a marine with a volatile skewer into this room, and he shot at Bassus during the cutscene until the knock back from the skewer resulted in Bassus being stuck in a wall by the time the cutscene ended.

that explosion was so underwhelming. If that were Halo:Reach fusion coils they would be flying in every direction

My brother and I did this on legendary co-op and we put the coils in the exact spot where you would end up being thrown into. So every time you load in, Bassus would immediately slam into the pile of coils ending our boss fight instantly

The ability to cheese bosses like this in games is something I consider to be a massive plus. Sometimes, it is genuinely more entertaining to be able to find a cheeky way to instantly defeat the boss.

It reminds me of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, where you could defeat one of the final bosses by just waiting for him to jump over a wall and doing a knockdown move on him.

I love how underwhelming that explosion was. This big, scary brute boss battle over in seconds because of a trip hazard, especially after he boots-up his over shields. 🤣

Real time cutscenes were not common because of hardware and graphical limitations. Now that both have advanced significantly, nearly all games will have real time cutscenes, going forward.
