The story of him winning it this year is even more beautiful given the fact that he lost the final in 2014. Back then everyone thought this was it. This would be Messi‘s one chance to win it but he’d fail to do so. At this point he had already won every import trophy there is to win at the age of 27. He was already regarded by many as the greatest footballer of all time but it seemed like even he would go down as the incomplete. It kinda felt like destiny was trying to teach us a lesson. Even the best of the best can’t have it all.

But now at the age of 35 and at the very end of his legendary career he actually took his final chance to win it and complete his lifelong dream. Defying all the odds, leading his team to world cup glory and playing one of if not the best world cup tournament any player has ever played in football history. A story that could have been the script of a Hollywood movie!
