You may not of noticed but the standard unleaded petrol in the UK has been replaced with a new fuel called E10. But E10 is not compatible with hundreds of thousands of cars on the road. In this video find everything you need to know about the switch from E5 to E10 petrol. What is E10 petrol? Is E10 petrol bad for your engine?

Hey guys. I just wanted to comment here to say that even though I have chosen not to put E10 Fuel in my AMGs If you drive a modern car not on the governments warning list there’s not a huge concern about it damaging your engine although it may be slightly less efficient. I know E10 has been around for a long time in some countries so please don't worry if you've been using it. If you own a performance car though always check the manufactures recommended fuel. For Mercedes AMG’s they always recommend using the Super unleaded fuel so I would avoid E10 if possible to get the best performance and take care of your engine. Remember Mercedes slogan “The best or nothing” :)

Ran my 2014 A5 2.0 TFSI on this for 2 tanks and my mpg went down by at leat 10% and could hear the engine knock when cold. I've since put 2 tanks of Supermarket Super E5 in and the car is back to it's old self again. Thanks for posting and confirming my own findings!

Very informative video ref E10 fuel.If i'm honest i will just use the E5 High Octane rather than risk any chance of damaging my engine even though it's £1.60 per litre currently in the uk😥😥...Don't like the sound of water vapour building up in the fuel tank, as we all know Petrol & Water doesn't mix..!!....Mate used the E10 fuel on old Nissan (04 plate) it wrecked the engine & was scrapped.Prior to using the E10 fuel no issues...Thanks for your video..Well presented....👍👍

I just fuel in premium fuel for my better cars no matter what.

In Australia we have a choice either E10 or 91octane to 98 octane petrol. E10 makes my car ping so I use 91.

Tests by YouTubers "The Boilerhouse Garage" and "The Fuel Reviewer" (not an endorsement of either) so far demonstrate that they have found no retail "E10" fuel sold in the UK that contains over 7, 5% bio-ethanol, with 5% being more commonplace, and occasionally 2, 5% (bp in the south of England for example). "E5" super actually contains between zero and 2, 5% bio-ethanol.

If, in future, the "E10" actually contains 10% ethanol then that may have implications even for those currently using "E10" without major hiccup.

E10 has been used in Germany since 2011. There’s not really any cause for concern considering it’s been in use for 10 years. Since switching I’ve seen no change in fuel economy in my Mercedes.

Interesting. Here in Australia we have E10, as well as Premium 95 and 98. Mercedes recommends 95 and 98, but when I look at different sites it does say E10 would work as well. I don't own an AMG, only a GLA250 so was wondering if it would worth trying given the price difference. Will keep investigating.
