Cold War era, despite all secondary wars (Vietnam etc), was just a peace time and a equilibrium between major forces.

Do you ever wondered what would USA do if they were the only country who have nuclear weapons? They would have kil1ed millions of people, much more than Hiroshima and Nagasaki and that was their plan (drop shot operation).. They were planning to drop 300 nuclear bombs in soviet union. The problem was that they haven't that amount of bombs and they didn't even have too much units of bombers for the delivery.

And one cientist called Klaus Fuchs saved millions of people by freely giving the Manhattan project secrets to USSR, because he was sufficiently wise to see that this weapon was too powerful to only one country to possess. 4 years later, at record time, soviet union tested their first atomic weapon and american genocid3 Drop Shot plan was flushed down the toilet.

This is what weapon development brings, if you don't develop it, your enemies will and eventually use against you.. So bravo, for this russian scientist.
