IPOs are talked about quite a lot.

But who really benefits from them?
Is it the founders?
The VCs?
Or the Investment banks?

In this video, I explain the whole process of IPOs - why they launch and should retail investors invest in them?

Do watch it till the end :)

This was mid 2000s and all ipos were getting listed at min 10% premium. I was new to stock markets and I found this to be the most profitable way. - I did not even know basics then. Anyway, there was an IPO called Bluebird. I applied and got 33 K worth. Believe me from the day it got listed till now it did not go above the issue price. Issue price was around 120rs. It never went above 105. Mostly was around 70rs. I still have those shares. They are now 15p like that. 33k is now less than 33 Rupees. I stopped investing in IPOs after that. Good lesson.

The only person on Indian youtube community who can talk boldly on such topics and educate retail investors to not fall in the trap of these demons.

I have also been shouting from the very beginning to avoid stocks like Paytm, Nykaa, Zomato, etc. these IPOs just provide the route for big investors to exit at the high price. Nykaa even indulged in a kind of fraud when it announced bonus when the lockin period for big investors was about to end

Excellent!! Very honest attempt to portray entire IPO mafia in a binary (black/white) mode. High time for SEBI to formulate some benchmarks / thresholds for valuations sought during IPO.

Thanks for raising your voice. Influencers like you should help us (retail investors) with proper education and criticism.

Akshat - kudos to you for your daring video. When IPOs of paytm, zomato, nyka came out, I had written in all reviews of who is who of YouTube, not to subscribe. I follow couple of principles in buying stocks or applying in IPOs. 1. Will never apply for a loss making company irrespective of their topline. 2. Will never apply in an ipo where the valuation is higher than its peers. 3. Never apply in an ipo where the topline and bottom line is higher in the year of issuing the ipo compared to previous years. 4. Never buy stocks from market where valuation is high e.g. adani

Holyshit man I subscribed to you for your very rational and empathetic video about middle class and was expecting other rational things like that but saying that I'm surprised by this irrational display of courage would be an understatement! You not only have balls of steel but also a damn sharp brain!

Hey Akshat - was eager to hear that why Mutual Fund Houses would support Investment Banker for high valuation. But, I guess that part was edited out. Hope you would explain that in some other videos :)

Legendary work man and much needed info. I used to talk this with my friends about this dumping mechanism but they never used to understand it. More power to you. People are running behind IPO's like ticket to heaven. Whereas its shit and funny part it's all legal.

Thanks for explaining the IPO process in easy terms.

BTW can you do a video on how to use Vested. Also I have tried to check your vested link (small case) but after login it typically goes to my dashboard and after one cannot access the link.
