Really Clear: How to Use a Swift and Yarn Winder (cc)

This video shows you how to use an umbrella swift and yarn winder to wind a ball of yarn. Do not try this with novelty yarn that could catch or with delicate yarn that could break. Most yarns, however, will work well!

Just a quick tip. I like to pull my yarn from the center so I put my cakes into a yarn bowl. It works perfectly that way and if it does collapse, it just sits in the bowl and doesn't get tangled up. I love yarn cakes.

Looks like you have a zip winder there. I have their pro version. Do you have some mounting tips? I keep having issues with the winder coming off of the table it's mounted to.
