WWE 2K25 Review - Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

Along with an updated roster, WWE 2K25 brings with it a host of new features, including a brand new story for its MyRise mode, as well as the ability to enhance the rivalries you set up in Universe mode through promos. Pair that with an expansive Showcase mode that goes through the legacy of Samoan wrestlers throughout WWE’s history, and you might have what is potentially the biggest release in the franchise yet.

However, these ambitions may have been too high. The Showcase mode ends up feeling quite dull since it doesn’t offer up any new insights into the legacy of the Samoan wrestlers that we’re meant to be cheering for. Even MyRise suffers from shortcomings within its story, since it isn’t quite able to hit the emotional peaks of the stories from previous games in the series. The PC version also has its fair share of issues, including the lack of graphics options to tweak, and the strange decision to cap cutscenes at 30 FPS.

I'm gonna be one to admit... I've played every wrestling game. This is probably one of the better ones of the 2k versions. The detail is on par, honestly, when it comes to damage. The new camera 3rd person view makes it a whole new experience.

Character models could be a bit better for some of the people. I've noticed some do not look correct like they did in the 2k24 game

"Two Steps Forward, One Step Back" that's been this entire series in a nutshell. also there's no original ideas in wwe 2k, WWE games was better under THQ inc and acclaim. hell even midway and LJN at least had original ideas for their WWF titles.

They gave this a 7/10 and 2K24 an 8/10 when literally everyone thinks this is a better game than last year, and the best WWE game since 2K19? Make it make sense GB 😂

Yeah i paid 130 dollars for everything and to play it earlier just to have issues is crazy they need to drop games prices because if we paying 70 to 130 for one video games everything should be on point and should have alot in the game that's free and has alot of consequences in universe mode that's keeps you in to your journey and
alot of different promos choices and let us have choices in cutscenes were we can choose to be a good guy or a heel and make it matter moving forward in universe mode theses games should be back to 50 dollars because all theses new games in these generation ain't worth paying for a uncompleted game thats buggy and broken and has glitches everywhere but that's just my opinion lol

The game is capped to 60fps because that is what the animation system they use is built around. I also don't notice any new issues on PC compared to 2k24. There's a setting in the graphics menu to change 30fps to 60fps for (I think) cut scenes or camera cuts, though intros will still be locked to 30 since that is the frame rate they are animated to.

Nothing about this year's game is different or worse than the previous games on PC. No idea why you are trying to imply otherwise.

I am decades in to a fascination of wwe. I get it in the 90’s. When we weren’t positive it was fake and it was the best it ever will be. But I’ve tried to watch it now. I’m stunned. How. How do people continue to watch this. Not only that play the game ?!
