My top three recommendations for you are:

1. Bomb Run - This is B-17 Queen of the Skies in a deck of cards. You have to individually order from The Game Crafter. About 20 minutes a mission
2. Thunder and Lightning - This is pretty much Stratego in deck format…with some extra action cards thrown in. About 45 minutes a game.
3. Imperium: The Contention - A fast paced 4X game with 6 asymmetric factions each with their own decks, plays in about 20 minutes per person.

Hope you enjoy.

Hello,
Just a small correction, Maquis is not a game about the French Revolution but about French resistants or rebelles during WWII trying to escape and make plots against the germans but great game indeed!
By the way I love those crossovers between your channel and Legendary Tactics!
Very entertaining 👍

Hi - in your LT video over at Quack, I am really surprised that you didn’t mention any of the wonderful Axis and Allies games. Probably one of the best war games of all time, especially the Anniversary edition.

Hey guys, I really enjoy your content, because I seem to have a similar taste in board games as you. As someone who plays chess for years, I often look for games that feel like chess but play differently, so I can play with my non-chess friends. Based on that, here are some recommendations (in no particular order), which I think you might like: War chest, the duke, Hive, DiceWar, Token terrors battlegrounds, King &Assassins, summoner wars second edition, Santorini, Clans.
I'm pretty sure you will enjoy all of them. If you like, I can also give you some more recommendations for 3+ player games which have a similar feel.

@lt I would love to see you dig into A World At War from GMT by a fellow Canadian, and if you're crazy enough, you can add Gathering Storm and Storm Over Asia.

Interesting ... Now, I don't know to which extend I share taste with the Legendary Tactics guys, but as someone play a lot of wargames, the degree to which I got curious was very different from game to game.
First of all ... I hate playing solo. Solo playing is a somewhat contentious subject in wargame circles. A lot of players do it, but also a lot of players find it completely defeats the point of playing a board game. There are at least 2 different kind of wargamers: Those who play for the strategic challenge (and often like abstract games too) ... and those who play mostly for historical reenactment and don't care so much about the pure game quality of the rules. ... I think that influences your opinion on solo play too.

Secondly ... I bounced relatively hard off Food Chain Magnate. To me it's a brilliant idea, lacking a lot of development. I recognize that Splotter thinks you should be able to lose the game on the first few turns, but the way that works in FCM takes a lot of the strategic freedom out of it.
In FCM there's a few different sane openings, but whether or not they work depends on what the other players pick as opening and you can basically lose the game on turn one without having done anything wrong, just because the sum of others actions when the turn comes back to you makes your initial move bad.
I've tried getting stuck in a price war where it was not even theoretically possible to make any move to counter it, simply because the bank ran out of the cards I would need. ... and the thematic connections are a bit weird. Why does the first person to throw away food get a freezer? ... and why is he then the only one being able to freeze food - ever ?!?!

I think I'll have to try play "Container" though...
