Rag Joint FAILURE! 1972 Ford F100 STEERING BROKEN

Показать описание
1972 Ford F100 was steering HARD! Couldn't hardly turn the wheel, sticking in places, and very difficult to drive. Upon inspection, the rag-joint, or steering coupler had eroded BAD! Bought a new one, replaced exactly as removed, with minor effort. Now steers as it did years ago. These rag-joints need to be inspected at least annually, especially if you notice a change in the way your older vehicle steers. It completely fell apart when removed, and if that had happened while driving, it could have had a VERY BAD result.
The rag-joint should have NO PLAY in it, having someone turn the wheel back and forth as you watch from under the hood. If it looks worn, has play, or has tears or rips, replace as soon as possible.

One time i was heading out to the state fair and i had to make a right turn. Lost most turnio capabilities. I did my best to get into a gas station parking lot. Luckily i bought the coupler already but didn't have the tools to replace it. I called my dad and eventually got it in.
