Having a family and raising Orthodox children without birth control is service to God. Having to go out and earn enough to support a large family and maintain an Orthodox Life, often with very little access to in-depth spiritual council, is a very difficult and perilous road. You are constantly thrust into the lion's den and must rely on God exclusively.

I suppose what they didn’t realize was that their location was irrelevant. They were always with whatever it was they were seeking.

Falsely accusing someone of committing a “crime” against the community, then throwing them out knowing they had nowhere to go, just so you could see if they were willing to admit to the wrongdoing in order to regain entry is some top-tier gaslighting and seriously cult-like predatory behavior.

This kind of twisted sinfulness against a brother or sister was never taught by Christ nor His apostles, nor the early church and should be condemned, not elevated as behavior to be modeled.

But isn’t the one who falsely accused them lying and committing sin against God.

Here's the question: why would God ever condone an abbott falsely accusing innocent person, plus throwing them out, letting them stay out by the gate begging to come back and seek forgiveness for what he was innocent? Answer: God would not do so, in this Church Age.

Monasticism can’t flourish while the monks are on YouTube making videos instead of praying in their cells.
