Nov 30th is the feast of St. Andrew. St. Andrew's Day is to the Scots what St. Patrick's day is to the Irish.

Being Partially Scotch I decided to celebrate with some Jacobite music.

----------English------------------------------------------
The Jacobite risings, also known as the Jacobite rebellions or the War of the British Succession,[1] were a series of uprisings, rebellions, and wars in Great Britain and Ireland occurring between 1688 and 1746. The uprisings had the aim of returning James II of England and VII of Scotland, the last Catholic British monarch, and later his descendants of the House of Stuart, to the throne of Great Britain after they had been deposed by Parliament during the Glorious Revolution. The series of conflicts takes its name Jacobitism, from Jacobus, the Latin form of James.

The major Jacobite risings were called the Jacobite rebellions by the ruling governments. The "first Jacobite rebellion" and "second Jacobite rebellion" were also known respectively as "the Fifteen" and "the Forty-five", after the years in which they occurred (1715 and 1745). - Wikipedia

- Wikipedia

A great selection of songs to commemorate this precious "Lost Cause." The Stuarts were so unfortunate.

I haven't a drop of Scottish blood (as far as I'm aware) but I'm definitely a supporter of the Jacobite cause. Great songs!

So many of these brave fighters emigrated to the Colonies and when 1776 came around they were a big part of why we were able to eventually repel the Crown. Especially in the southern colonies like SC the descendants of Scots were decisive...and they often fought their kinfolk fighting for the English. I think in many ways the Jacobite caused continued overseas.

Great music I never knew why I loved the bagpipes so much until I found out my ancestors were Scottish. Some of the folk songs I grew up with in Australia.

I don't know why but these words bring back a lot of sadness for the rebels.

I'm neither Scottish nor Catholic, and couldn't care less which figurehead monarch is used by a country which has long since stopped being ruled by monarchs in the first place... but damn, the songs are terrific.

Don't know how many people in this comment section are unaware of the important detail that under the Jaccobites the average Scott was "Rent" with no rights or property. What happened to many innocent people during and post Culloden was grotesque, but anyone who's should also be weary of calling themselves 'Jacobite'. I had ancestors on both sides of that horrible war and I enjoy these songs because I enjoy the history, the beautiful Scottish accents, and the pipes.
