I read the backup story Mags wrote in Action Comics to start this storyline and it was about as cringeworthy as you'd expect. Conner acted incredibly out of character and Mags was obviously projecting "her"-self onto him.

They're insecure about themselves so they need constant validation for their alternative lifestyle. If they were actually as confident and strong as they claim to be, they wouldnt care what anyone says about them.

i love how one of the arguments is "Conner looks like your generic tumblr lesbian OC"

"Rarely told." We've been drowning in every degenerate lifestyle for decades. It would be revolutionary to have a cast of normal and traditional people, this is just passé at this point.

"Comon, Connor dresses like a Lesbian anyway!"
Saying this would have gotten ANYONE cancelled instantly just 8 years prior. It would have gotten someone called out and rightfully so even earlier than that. So just because this person is a troon, they can get away with something that blatant? I'm just using THEIR logic, but we all know this isn't about logic or representation.
It's about control and being able to write self-inserts for long established characters to make themselves feel better. And if the audience doesn't like it, they can just laugh arrogantly about it all the way to the unemployment line as the book tanks due to low sales.

“I wanted to make Connor Kent a trans girl”

Well he’s not.

“I wanted Tim Drake to be bisexual”

Well he’s not.

I'm soooo sure lesbians were the first ones ever to rock leather jackets and shaved the sides of their head. They totally didn't take that look from men so they could look more like men. LOL

Self-loathing people need constant validation.

A trans woman is just a weird guy. BTW, the laugh of the week was seeing a college LGBT group protesting for Hamas. It's like watching chickens supporting KFC.

This is why you have to create your own characters and not taking an already existing character and then retcon it to be something that they are not!

How hard is that to grasp????

WOW this is absolutely insane so people really are this delusional in comics these days

When Mags said this and I’m gonna paraphrase here: “Conner’s self-discovery would be as natural as Bobby Drake coming out.” He had me flabbergasted, we all know Bobby got mind-graped by Jean but even putting that lovely image aside a comic like that is only to serve Mag’s ego of yet again self-inserting himself onto a established character.

Based on how little trans people there actually are, I would say trans representation is far far over represented and needs to dial back. In fact if you look at a show like Euphoria, all of that stuff happening at once seems almost impossible, but anyway.

Seriously...Maggs' eyes are something else, man. Anyone with eyes like Maggs shouldn't be in charge of creative decisions.

Mags is a sad person who can't handle reality

I don't think I'm crazy, but as a writer, it is disheartening sometimes to see the success of talentless activists destroying things I love while struggling myself, and often being on the receiving end of harassment for being openly Christian, not supporting their politics, and writing for characters of another gender and skin color than my own. I'm not giving up, and I hope to be a successful writer sooner rather than later, but it is hard and discouraging sometimes.

Am i hearing this wrong or did they basically say "i love this character therefore i want them to suffer from this condition somewhere between mental illness and personal expression with maximum emotional trauma"

I said the same. on the DC Comics message boards over twenty years ago.
