5 Months Of Owning The Rupert Neve MBT Would You Recommend It?

In this video I discuss my thoughts on the Rupert Neve MBT (Master Bus Transformer) after owning and using it for 5 months. Am I still as fond of it as the day I bought it and has the way I am using it now changed over the past 5 months. All of these questions are answered and more.

You right about the MBT. For what I do in my studio, I did returned my MBT and kept the MBP. I tried to love it with my setup but I find myself going back to the MBP. But for the stereo width that’s the magic 😊

Fix up the stereo field editor, keep the saturation, add tape saturation, maybe keep eq

A colour box with super silk and the 542 tape emulation would be amazing! Add an expanded stereo width/depth section, and those things would fly off the shelves I reckon.

I had the MBT and just got the MBP to do a combo, I think they will compliment very well

If they release a dual mono color box only, with both red and blue silk (varieable) + the tape emulator, working in MS .. maaan, they will hit the big market !

Solid rationale. How do you find the silk saturation in contrast to the Cranborne Carnaby harmonic EQ?

Nice! I have the Neve 542’s and Neve Orbit summing mixer and therefore i can use both Red and Blue silk at the same time. Its pretty awesome! Cheers and great vid with your honest opinion.

Hi Paul. Interesting that you put the MBT at the start. I remember you daid in the past that you start your chain with the Wes ngComp. Can you say where it sits now and why?

Great video Paul. Like we have thought. Rupert Designs needs to make a super silk red/blue box and bring the price down and I bet it will sell like hotcakes. I like to see it in a 500 series and maybe couple that with a SPL Big? Your thoughts Paul?

Just got mines today, something I just learn by reading the manual, increase the input gain to the drive light up on the silk, for it to works was wondering why I wasn't hear a big different with my vocals lol

They should make a colour box and with deeper stereo width control and a second rendition of their tape analogue emulation.
The current one I am interested in, but becuase I will not have much else in the chain... I'm still trading off with it mind.

The carnaby Eq I thought would kind of be like a silk blue or red. I’m yet to purchase it though.

Hey professor. Does mix buss mean the stereo out of the mix or would it be the mix ready for mastering?

You perhaps made a bad choice, maybe the Orbit 5057 was for your studio, with red and blue silk at low cost. Very good video thank you.

I would love to see RND build a 4-band EQ with hi/lo filters, silk modes in each band, and 542s. Add the widener as well

Would it be the same to just get 4 542’s and use one pair with silk red and the other with blue and you’ll also have the tape saturation?
