In terms of training a dog not to bite : you shouldn’t’t hold their mouth really, instead, you should act like Rocco has really hurt you even if he nips you so he gets the idea that biting is painful for other dogs and people.

i’d suggest getting a grass mat (live or fake)and putting it on the patio maybe? it’s a lot easier to train them to go outside if they have used that before. in my experience it’s very difficult to swap from potty pads to grass.

I also have a golden retriever, Luna, and she will be 12 years old this year and she’s feeling great even though she’s almost completely blind. She still loves everyone with all her heart. Even when she’s not feeling well or has some “bad” days, she always wiggles her tail and wants to cheer everyone up. This video brought me so many memories of Luna when she was a pup 😭❤️ congratulations! I’m sure Rocco will give you lots of love 💕

The fact that I watched Lauryn story and she was asking for a golden retriever but she said she wasn't getting one then I saw Julia's story with Rocco i was like Lauryn your the best bahaha

when we crate trained our puppy, we took her out every 2-4 hours for the first 2 or so weeks and she learned really fast! and it usually helps to put the crate where they can’t see/hear you :)

I have a 5 year old Shih Poo girl and she is my baby!

I was about to type out a ton of advice, but them remembered that you have had dogs before. The only recommendation that I will make is to consider an obedience school. Golden Retrievers are so eager to learn and please, but they can be little rascals as puppies. Rocco is so cute. Happy dog-parenting!

I got a new puppy back in August and what helped with her crate training was leaving the door open during the day. When she would go inside of it on her own she would be praised, then at night when we would lock it she was more comfortable with the crate.

Congratulations! They are the best roomates EVER. And is so cute how he falls sleep in your arms as you are talking!
Tip: You can put a hot water bottle with him to sleep, when they are puppies they're always looking for the warmest places. That's how I got mine to sleep all night and to be calmed when I wasn't homre.
Oh and let him bite you so you can teach him when to stop, that's really important so they know when they start to be painful and not go that far.

I also got diagnosed with anxiety in the past year and i got a labrador puppy and i’m telling you they are dogs just understand it’s crazy
