Touching Encounter with a Wild Mountain Gorilla Juvenile in Uganda

Earlier this year I was visiting the Nyakagezi gorilla family in the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda, when I had this incredible encounter with Machati, a heavily inquisitive juvenile.
In general a seven meters distance from the gorillas should be observed at all times. But the animals aren't told. When Machati came closer to me, I asked the guide what to do. "Just stay, don't move", he said. To be honest: I was quite happy about it, since this was just an unforgettable once in a lifetime experience.

He was establishing his reputation for fearlessness! All young need to demonstrate early doors their right to succession of the troop when they become a grown silverback. Smacked the ground and his chest immediately after, and see how his friend observing all this scarpeded! Loved this. Thank you!
