Thank you, John. My grandmother came from Ireland to Boston in 1870, where my great-grandfather was greeted with signs that the Irish need not apply. My grandmother was fearful and didn't talk about being Irish to her 7 children. It wasn't until JFK was elected President that my mother felt she could be proud of being Irish. Thankfully I never lived with the fear of having Irish blood flowing through me.
