The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (or NPT) is the centerpiece of the nonproliferation regime. This lecture explains its three main pillars, its near-universal membership, and its effectiveness. We also explore how some countries, dissatisfied with its progress, have taken steps to create nuclear weapons free zones and develop a Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

This is a really strange “treaty”, and I bet that ultimately no current superpower would completely give up all its nuclear weapons.

I figured that as long as we have free access to technology that weapons are only designed way to address the waste problem which has every other bit of waste being thrown in the ocean, or the atmosphere.

For no CO2 in the world some people are pushing hard for nuclear power plants in every country.
With no petroleum, no gas, no coal, no wood burning, the electrical power plants needed would be a 5 fold increase.
So if nuclear electricity plants then 5 fold increase in the number of plants, then 100, 000 plants around the world.
Does anyone see a problem ? ? ?
Electric transportation, etc.

After a first nuclear strike the effects will render much of the superpowers incapacitated and survivors will seek refuge in members of the NPT. There is a need to forge s protocol for humanitarian purposes to be able to seek refuge and medical care in safe zones within NPT member-states. Protocol should include transparency and enforcement of treaty rules on warships that sought to take refuge. The rules should include disarmament and transparency of intention.

Why isn't there any military protection for countries who sign this NPT, like SA had nuclear weapons, but we are being bullied by the USA today on whom we should associate with.

Nuclear weapons are nearly useless. Not practical for any battlefield. They're only use appears to be political. A countervailing strategy appearing most effective. Kind of reminds me of Heinlein's remark "An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life." Maybe every country should have a dozen W87's.
