Probably a good thing that Chrystia Freeland didn't win, can you imagine if Canada's first *and* second female prime ministers were both only given the job because the old PM had to resign due to unpopularity and both lost horribly just months after they got the job?

We have to remember that in the “post covid era” of politics, it is not an incumbent’s world. In 2024 in every election in a liberal democracy the incumbent party lost ground. I don’t think it particularly matters what Mark Carney does, to me it just seems like a matter of scissors beating paper. It doesn’t matter how well you present the paper, or how good the paper looks, scissors are still gonna win

Fun fact: I have met both Carney and Poilievre within the past year. Carney because I went to one of his campaign events and Poilievre because I happened to be on the the same plane as him. This means I have met at least one and possibly two future prime ministers.
