RECIPE DESCRIPTION:
Ingredients
Potato 1 Large, steam
Carrot 1 Large, steam
Beet root 1 Large, steam
Cilantro leaves 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), finely chopped
Onion 1 Cup (16 tbs), finely chopped
Yellow mustard seeds 1 Tablespoon, ground
Garlic 1 Tablespoon
Cumin powder 1 Teaspoon
Paprika 1 Teaspoon
Soy sauce 1 Teaspoon
Salt 1 Teaspoon
Soy flour/Oats, wheat flour, chickpea flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Olive oil 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) ((for forming hot dogs, for steaming and for frying hot dogs))
Water 1 Bottle (1 l)
Hot dog buns 2 , sliced in half
Mustard sauce 1 Teaspoon
Ketchup 2 Tablespoon
Pickled cucumber 2 Tablespoon

Directions
MAKING
1. In a food processor, add all the steamed vegetables, cilantro, onion, yellow mustard, garlic, cumin powder, paprika, soy sauce and salt. Blend well until the mixture is smooth.
2. Add in the flour and blend again. The texture should look like a dough. Transfer the mixture into a bowl.
3. With well oiled hands, start forming cylindrical shaped hot dogs from the blended mixture. Transfer the formed hot dogs onto a plate.
4. In a steamer, add water. Place the steaming basket and oil it well to avoid the hot dogs from sticking to the basket.
5. Arrange the hot dogs into the steaming basket and close the lid. Place the steamer on the stove on medium high heat and steam it for about 15 - 20 minutes. Once done, transfer from the steamer onto a plate.
6. In a pan on medium heat, add oil and place 2-3 steamed hot dogs and cook them on both sides until they turn brown and crisp.

FINALIZING
7. In a plate, place the sliced hot dog burger. Add 1 fried hot dog in the center and place a few slices of bell pepper and onions on the side. Dress the hot dog with mustard sauce and ketchup.

SERVING
8. Serve the hot dog with a slice of pickled cucumber and extra hot dog.

Thank you for this recipe. I have tried it and it is really, really tasty. The texture does mimic hotdogs incredibly so. The flavor is just like hotdogs although I increased the liquid smoke a little more. It tastes much better than those soy dogs from health food stores. They are a great alternative to meat. I encourage anyone wondering about this, to try it. I did, my family was amazed! If you make round patties they almost mimic bologna in sandwiches too! Thank you Bhavna!!!

I made these and brought them to a potluck a few years ago. Everyone thought they were store bought and were amazed when I told them that they were from scratch. They all wanted more and more. Thank you!

Thank you for posting this video! I agree, pickles are a must! I am going to make a large batch up to freeze and have on hand for when my grandchildren come over. Looks like a recipe I can easily do.

I have made these and they are very good. To me they taste almost like a Bratwurst sausage. My children and husband like them very much. They are not vegan or even vegetarian but they fight over who gets seconds. I substitute drained canned beets for the steam fresh ones because they rarely have them in our small town. I steam mine wrapped in parchment paper in a crockpot for a few hours. They are good plain or with my homemade vegan chili.

OMG! I've been buying the vegan hot dogs at the supermarket, while I had ALL the INGREDIENTS at home.... SMH.... I will give this recipe a try.

Hello..Bhavna..You know I am a vegan for 1 years here in Russia. But before I was a vegan. I was a Vegetrian first..and I was many time s to watched your vedio. Sometimes I was take it down your ricipe I like, to easy remember and I trying to make it for our guest..So, its very nice because there's no animal suffering..and Thank you for vedio you shared with us. I freeze steamed hot dogs and whenever I want to use, thaw for about 10minutes(Do not let it sit on the counter for too long) and cook with little oil.

Plus, get some much-needed ‘we’ time too, when this treat is made by two. Hot damn!

Cooking time with better half: 30 minutes

Chef 1
Ingredients:
1 large steamed potato
1 large steamed carrot
1 large steamed beetroot

1 cup onion (finely chopped)
1 tbsp yellow mustard seeds (ground)
1 tbsp garlic
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp Soy sauce
1 tsp salt
1 cup (16 tbsps) Soy flour/Oats, wheat flour, chickpea flour

Procedure:
In a food processor, add all the steamed vegetables along with the cilantro, onion, yellow mustard, garlic, cumin powder, paprika, soy sauce, and salt. Blend well until the mixture is smooth.
Add in the flour and blend again. The texture should be doughy. Transfer the mixture into a bowl.
Now, with well-oiled hands, start forming cylindrical-shaped hot dogs from the blended mixture. Transfer the formed hot dogs onto a plate and hand them over to Chef 2.

Chef 2
Ingredients:
1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) Olive oil
1 liter Water
2 Hot dog buns, sliced in half
1 tsp mustard sauce
2 tbsp Ketchup
2 tbsps pickled cucumber

Procedure:
Chef 2, it’s time for you to take over. In a steamer, add water. Place the steaming basket and oil it well to avoid the hot dogs from sticking to the basket.
Arrange the hot dogs into the steaming basket and close the lid. Place the steamer on a stove on medium-high heat and steam it for about 15 - 20 minutes. Once done, transfer from the steamer onto a plate.

Looks delicious, can't wait to try it. I love the texture and color you have achieved, plus the fact they can be frozen and heated up later is a great time save. I think also a dash of apple cider vinegar plus a few drops of "liquid smoke" will give them that authentic "hot dog" taste just like the meat versions from the grocery stores.

Yes and my ginger garlic also contains salt so usually I add salt in recipes if required.

Any flour that can absorb moisture easily such as corn flour, wheat flour or other flour that you may know will work.

I tried making this and it turned out very pasty. I'm not sure what I did wrong. How long did you steam the vegetables? When I pureed the steamed vegetables, it was not watery like yours. It was a lot thicker.

In order to cooke them properly, I prefere steaming and then just saute with very little oil.
