Freida Pinto who stars in Netflix’s Mowgli talks to Film Companion about working with Andy Serkis yet again and what excited her about the role. Pinto who competes 10 years as an actor this year talks about her contribution towards putting India on the global map and how the needle has shifted with the likes of Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone making a foray into Hollywood too. We also ask the actor what it would take to make her sign a Bollywood project.

To all those who says that her accent is fake.. Well I like it. Being born and brought up in India, there is nothing wrong in speaking with an Indian accent, but I don't think its applicable in her profession. Her role in movies may demand different characters, and if she is learning it and improving it and yes the way she speak is so good, than I don't mind at all. To speak in whatever accent she wants its her wish. And she speaks well. So no problem at all.

So refreshing to see Freida Pinto, someone who is grounded and has beauty, brains and the right attitude. And with an accent that complements the films she is choosing to do. Even is it is practised. For anyone commenting that she has an accent because she has lived in the states/UK for 10 years now, that's not true. Her English accent was there when she had interviews for Slumdog and some years later. So maybe she worked on it, maybe she studied at an international school in Mumbai or whatever, atleast we can appreciate the content she speaks about, and causes she support. Slumdog was a breakthrough movie but it didn't give Freida the actor any chance. Freida has worked so hard on herself and we need to applaud that, and everything that she has spoke about since. Her comment on being #1 was so true, I think that concepts exists just in India, cause I haven't seen much of that in the west. We have Jlaw as the highest paid actor, and then we have Scarlett who topped in Forbes highest earning, and then we have Emma stone, Emma Watson, Saoirse Ronan, Reese Witherspoon, viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Taraji P henson, Kerry Washington and so many Who do you say is number 1, cause not all of them are walking the same path. In Bollywood it's basically saying that all the female actors have the same path (I am guessing all they need to be is look pretty, and be make actors eye candy) or if you are highest paid then you are number 1, but if you have someone who is outspoken, and is breaking stereotypes, we tend to put them
All I am trying to say is, can we look beyond the accent to listen to what she is actually saying, or are we going to just talk about the
