Unclear if Russia will agree to ceasefire terms with Ukraine

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says a ceasefire deal will be presented to Russia after Ukraine said it is ready to accept a 30-day pause in fighting. CBS News senior foreign correspondent Holly Williams reports on the peace process and John Herbst, former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, joined CBS News with his thoughts on the situation.

Money has always been the biggest motivator for starting wars and lack of money has always been the biggest motivator to end wars. Every major player saves tens of billions of dollars if they accept a peace deal, money they don`t actually have. This is why I believe that the peace deal between Ukraine and Russia will be signed sooner rather than later.

It’s a no brainier. For ceasefire to be taken seriously, military aid should not have been resumed. You can’t keep arming Ukraine and expect Russia to ceasefire.

Ukraine has broken too many ceasefires & peace agreements with Russia. I strongly doubt Russia will fall for it a 3rd. time.

If the US is resuming military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine, Russia should NOT accept any ceasefire deal. Ceasefires only benefit a retreating enemy.

I watched an interview with putin recently. He seems to be very much on board with the ceasefire. Not only that but it appears america may be opening up trade and other deals with russia as well. Wierdos want to have hate for russia, but I think getting along and prosperity is a much better path

No. Putin, Medvedev, Lavrov said 1.5 months ago that all these temporary breaks were not acceptable. They had one already in 2022 when Russia pullled triops from Kiev and Ukraine tore up a peace deal. What were US ans Ukraine talking about for 9 hours? Hopefully not just sitting there looking at each other in silence.

Gave back the aid and intell? Well there will be a lesson to be learned shortly as after the 30 day cease fire (or Ukraine rearm) as the original Peace Treaty turned out to be used for just that as confirmed by NATO... Maybe a start a very best.
