"This Is Where The Cowboy Rides Away" by George Strait. It is the eighth track on "Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind".

It was George's twelfth single released. After reaching number five on the charts it went on to become a signature song for Strait. Today, most GS concerts end with this song.

"...Thank you very much, the Ace In The Hole Band!"

I don't own this song it's owned by George Strait and MCA Records.

Kevin Cobb Police Officer died in the line of duty and today in Algona, Ia I witnessed the beautiful, loving funeral I had ever seen it hit the very core of my soul it couldn’t of been more fitting for who he was. He leaves behind a beautiful wife and 3 children. The last thing played was this song and what a song it is for Kevin. God bless his heart and soul and may the Lord watch over his family 😢.

My husband has brain cancer.
He's requested this song for his funeral, as we've danced to it so many times!
I will honor his wishes, but I'm not letting go of him yet!
We're going to keep dancing!

I know a little almost 11 year old cowboy that rode away today!! May Jesus hold this little God fearing cowboy in his arms and comfort his family in their time of suffering!!

Have ya ever noticed how George's pronunciation of words is spot on and understandable, unlike so many singers who slur their words? His delivery is perfect in every respect.

I’m dedicating this to my favorite uncle who passed away last week. Great man, farmer, friend, neighbor, and the best uncle a girl could have. Here’s to you HR

My Uncle passed away and I have listened to this song a dozen times while thinking of him. He was a rather successful man that contributed greatly to steer roping. His service is today at -K Ranch. 😔🙏

I grew up in the 60's and 70's listening to country music. This is what it is supposed to sound like.

Lost my dad in 2009 to cancer. This was his favorite song. He would come home from the Honk Tonk when I was in high school and wake me up in the middle of the night playing this song. I’ll never forget him standing at the front door looking out into the dark listening to it. Lord know he had his share of ups and down with women and life. R.I.P. Dad ❤ The cowboy rode away!!
