I've been waiting for the next part of 8hp e36 story. At this very time I'm going to install m54b30+8hp45 on ms45.1 basis into my e36 coupe.
And thank you for information regarding wideband O2 wiring sensors!

6:45 I have report on this, I've managed same thing few weeks ago with msv70 (same thing as ms45) and actual problem is in the car. Something on can-bus is corrupting BOTH reading and writing, but not all the time. (There is also tons of forum post about this happening to ppl in obd2 flashes/reads) If you do writing and reading on the bench, I guarantee you nothing won't happen even with aliexpress cable. You can revive ecu on bench but i think it has to be in boot mode (so cheap ktag and soldering Arduino dupont pins is needed)

In my case my very 1st read had missing one chk (8byte i think after tune area, it got replaced with FF's) and i was never able write full to restore, but later after few days I copied it from other tune that looked the same and it worked. Last thing i had to do was EWS-DME sync via inpa to get e91 started. (it was n52 engine I guess)

Hello Sipa, I must say your english is really coming along, great work! M52 is still using only Nikalsil, which needs to be replated once machining is done. That it why you have scoring, which I am sure you already know. Maybe this service is not available in Finland?

Engine is sounding really sweet. I bet it feels much more responsive on the throttle than turbo engines. I know what it's like to have a project try to kick your butt, makes you almost want to give up sometimes. Interested to see what the dyno says 😃

Aye Chaos Calibration tuned my MS45.1 turbo build! With widebands in the downpipe not in manifold. Great tune still runs and drifts great 2 years later

What spark plugs are you running? I used to have BKR6EK but those kept giving me problems/burnt out, so I have BKR6EQUP now. I don't know what was actually wrong with the old ones because I thought they were for this engine.

Aside from that, I loved seeing how you tuned things! You took a complex topic and broke it down into manageable pieces, that was cool to see.

Hello my friend, we are a group in Argentina called Ñatas garage. We currently have 10 built M50/52 all arround 260/290hp. Nice little motors, very reliable, and i am working on putting a ZF 8hp on mine (323 Ti Compact). I recently finished the full cage build. We use OEM MS41, very versatile ECU actually.
Did you machine your Head to achieve 300hp? We are struggling a lot to get past 290+ hp with the 2.8l

Maybe the light bore scratches are from the E85 wiping away the oil film and causing more significant piston/ring-wall contact? Also surprised that you are staying with M54-style intake manifold, M50 or N54 style will get you more top end. Any reason in particular to stay with M54 style?

I remember reading old German forums where 2-3 people built 3L strokers out of M52B28 and they all complained about the same thing, after 15 thousand kilometers bores were so scratched engines were done. It's not a game for those with a thin wallet.
