Pregnancy Safe Sunscreens - Indian and International

Mineral sunscreens reflect UV rays and do not absorb into the blood stream like chemical or hybrid sunscreens do, hence are considered safer during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The UV filters in mineral sunscreens are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide.

Mineral or physical SPFs are usually thicker in texture, while chemical sunscreens are lighter and hence usually more popular.

There isn’t enough data to prove that chemical sunscreens are harmful during pregnancy however, there isn’t any to prove that they aren’t either. A lot of dermats feel comfortable recommending chemical sunscreens that are free of Oxyebenzone and Avobenzone as pregnancy safe too. Research on this topic is still limited.

If you’d like to use a chemical sunscreen over a mineral sunscreen during pregnancy - do check with your doctor before usage.

La shield's mineral sunscreen is another great option.I have extremely sensitive skin and chemical sunscreen always led to some sort of an allergic reaction on my skin(even the ones that were recommendedby my dermat). I have been using La shield for a year now and its an absolute fav.
