Never knew this song well when I was young, and I never realized what it was about. Then tonight the chorus popped into my head randomly as sometimes happens- I usually try to pay attention to what my subconscious is trying to say with its choice of ear worms. Now listening to this, I’m grateful for the empowering message, though it’s clear humans have a long way to go- I will never believe the people who say “that’s just the way it is” or “we can’t help everyone”. Someday we can shape a world where there’s no question- we can help and accept everyone and leave no one behind.

Greatest song of its time !!! Bruce Hornsby is a legend !! 😢so much wisdom !!! As talented as Elton and Joel !!! I was so happy when he came on the circuit playing with the Grateful Dead after the tragic Death of Brent Mydland !! I was blessed to see Hornsby play with the dead at Giants Stadium and My respect for him is a mile wide !! Huge contribution buddy !
