Nice review and demo! I got ahold of two of these low cost Chinasia bayonets last year and on one the blade had hardly any carbon in it! and one had Aus 8 equivalent amount of carbon in the steel. M9's are designed for rifle attachment and last ditch hand to hand combat. I make a handmade enhanced version with high carbon steel true full tang 3/4"x1/4" tang, and the hand grips are para-cord wrapped and index nice and comfortable! even beefier than the Ontario OKC 3S bayonet, my knives are combat-survival knives made with 5160 and 1095 called the Snow-Tac 7.5 clip point upper swedge is razor sharp and my original prototype XM9 is pretty cool as well, it has a terracotta triangle tip. I'll be making 2 with 52100 soon, I make templates for all my designs.

I served in the Army from, 1990-2006 and have both the, M7 &, M-9. My M9, is the Buck Phrobus and it goes with me in the car, camping, hunting. I use it how it should be and limit how I can abuse it .They are dependable and always known to be reliable.

The pouch, I have a lite my fire ferro rod and Titan matches tube in it .

I enjoyed your video, Thanks

It's the type of m9 that I like, I have the Phrobis model from Bucknives with the thin hacksaw but I don't know what it's intended for, but certainly not for wood, unfortunately the asymmetric bevel of the hacksaw of that model of yours makes the hacksaw itself ineffective if not almost useless! if not just to make the furrows! It's a real shame, if the teeth had been as wide as the thickness of the blade and not blunt... it would have been able to cut even a branch in an emergency! However, if it is a non-original model, pay attention to the internal tang. With vibrations it unscrews and disassembles. On mine I made a new tang welded to the guard. Now it's all a monobloc: blade, guard and tang. Unscrewing the bolt removes the handle for cleaning and field disassembly. but it's really a shame that this hacksaw is blunt, they ruined it on the production line!, my advice, have it reforged the same but without blunt teeth, in fact if they are slightly wider than the thickness of the blade it will work even better in wood and the knife would become truly multipurpose!

Awesome video! And despite a poor edge from the factory, it still seemed to make some decent feathers. Maybe it's one of those "it's not the tool, it's the man" kind of things. lol Thanks for showing off this bayonet, buddy. It made my day. Cheers!

some good music in the beginning and you say what needs to be said / demo with no talk because it is not needed / some talk at the end to review what took place / pictures and more good music. All of this in just over 10 minutes! This is my 1st video of yours that I have seen and OMG! this should be "the play book" for how to make a youtube video! new subscriber here!

Good video Johnny, I like big tough knives that I don't worry about beating on. Not so sure about the bayonet hardware though. I think it would get in the way. Thanks for the review.

Another great video, thanks! I appreciate your access to the locations for your adventures. Also, your bayonet is missing an important accessory (the AR that mounts it).

Very interested to see how this plays out with your mods and use. I can totally relate to the 'time travel' cognizance, atavistic perhaps.

They drew first blood! Not me. That thing looks positively goofy doing camp chores, like watching a MMA fighter doing dishes and the laundry. Love it! Haha.

That snow, I say better it now than 80F (26.66C) and no precipitation until November. I'm interested to see what you do for the bayonet's blade.

Do you know if they make a full tang version style. I don’t need a bayonet, but this seems like an awesome survival knife.

I'm impressed considering that is a knockoff one. I imagine a legit one like an Ontario (RIP) would do even better. Is it a main camping knife? No but in a pinch for a soldier it will get the job done.

I was issued the M-9 (Buck Phrobus II) when I enlisted and served (1990-2005) I thought it was too big and clumsy until, I worked with it . I modded the pouch and wore it on my belt with a multi tool, fire kit, ECT. .
