Utica detective suspended, investigation opened after an altercation with two men went viral

That video has gone viral and has been seen more than 50 thousand times since it was posted Wednesday (Feb. 9) night. These guys call themselves auditors who have filmed videos in public places all over Michigan, and they say they aren't after confrontations with police, but in this case, they got a big one.

So, the cop that commits the crime ends up arresting the victim when he files a complaint. And they wonder why their profession is in jeopardy.

this cop was the "aggressive" one. He was so unprofessional and could not de-escalate the simple situation. He is the reason people do not trust the police.

A bit of a bias story. you forgot to include the fact that Utica Police Department refused their request to file a complaint, officer names, and badge numbers! Before being arrested. Apparently complaints can only be filed on certain days.

The news left out almost everything bad the officer said but he was the one that was getting yelled at with profanities. I like how he said Like you’re the first one that has come from my job? What happened to the other guys?

To all police, you can't run around treating people like your slaves anymore. Citizens are learning their rights and they're tired of their employees insubordinance any more. Change your tactics or change your career. It's really that simple.

That officer is unhinged and should be removed from any public interaction and charges should be filed against him for assault and unlawful arrest, abuse of power and official oppression. These bad cops, once identified, are a known liability to the city and tax payers.

Everyone needs to remember this. If this police officer was willing to behave in this manner when he KNEW he was being filmed, one can only imagine the misconduct he has committed when he knows he is NOT being filmed. We need a national police registry for officers like this to prevent them from just sliding over to the next town’s police department, assuming they are actually dismissed for their misconduct 🙁🙁

So you show up to file a complaint against an officer for knocking a phone out of your hand (something the police would arrest you for if you did that to them) and the officer thinks it’s ok to confront you and arrest you in the publicly accessible lobby of a tax payer funded building?

Who else sees the problems with behavior like this? Do the voters in this place think this is acceptable? Aren’t police stations supposed to be safe places where communication can win the day over violence?

Very selective reporting. They didn't show how they assaulted him, refused to take his complaint and refused to give the Officers names or badge numbers. This cop needs to be fired. Period.
