I'd like to add another comment: Maarten is unique among YouTube reviewers in so many ways. He clearly creates a thorough script and cleverly coordinates it seamlessly with the review shots and videos. He makes it look easy but you can tell that it took a great deal of time, preparation and homework. I don't want to put other reviewers down, but there are far too many reviews that are badly prepared, lacking in depth, and which fail to stick to the info we are all looking for, in favour of rather egotistical and selfie-based ramblings. Maarten is clearly aware of them and has also clearly made a conscious decision NOT to be like this. In summary, his reviews are an object lesson in how to review not just cameras, but any hi-tech gear.

What is surprising is that some of the more well known but rather threadbare reviews get hundreds of thousands of views. I wonder whether this is partly due to a decrease in attention spans. Maarten certainly proceeds at a fast rate and offers tersely presented detail in order to cram in as much info as possible and this is excellent. You can always pause the clips and backtrack at leisure, and that helps absorb the very comprehensive features he describes. This and other reviews of his deserve a lot more views. So, please spread the word and link to his reviews on other YT videos dealing with the same subject. Maarten has enabled us all to assess cameras to a level unprecedented elsewhere. He is by far the best presenter of reviews on this kind of product anywhere on youtube. Congratulations! Disclaimer. I live thousands of miles away and do not know Maarten personally, nor do I have any vested interest apart from searching for good reviews.

Panasonic should pay you for it because your video is way better than their manuals(where they teach you how to switch camera on etc) The best review of this camera so far and probably the most technical review I ever saw on Youtube.Great Job Maarten!!!

WOW!! That is how to make a camera reviews. Clear speaking, no gimmicks, no, silly hand movements and annoying music, just PERFECT presentation! Great detailed review sir, i've really enjoyed watching this very much. Thank you!

Best review I've seen for the GX80/85!

I always recommend the GX85 for newcomers with a medium budget. Such a great value for all the features you get.

I just got this as my first camera and this is everything I could ever ask for. 2 hours of doing everything talked about in this video on my own and I feel like I can do anything with my camera.

I've watched dozens of GX80/GX85 reviews and your is the most detailed and showing great amount of features and details. I wish all reviews were such great. Thanks!

Wow! I have a GX85, use it as my carry everywhere, snapshots of grandchildren camera.
I had no idea it had so many features, because I just never looked.
This is the most useful camera "review" I've ever seen. More like a video user manual.
Thanks!

Amazing review. I purchased this camera a year ago and I didn't know half of it, no, wait, a tenth of it.

amazing review as always. I purchased the camera a couple of days ago after much contemplation with the OMD-EM10 Mark III but the gx85 price and features were a huge deciding factor ( 200$ difference and better video capabilities) and I'm not regretting that decision at all. I love how your reviews always point out the most usable features and setting specially for a beginner user like my self ( i was watching the review with the camera in my hand to be honest). Keep up the good and amazing work that you do and i wish you the best.

Always a joy to watch your professional reviews. You could provide a masterclass for your fellow YouTubers on how to deliver a camera review. This could just as well be a very comprehensive training video as well as a review.
It been a struggle as to whether to pay the difference and go for the GX9 or go for the GX80 (here in the UK). This very detailed and balanced review swung it for the GX80. The cash back offer also helped : )
Keep up the good work!

I am a photography enthusiast. I have several cameras such as the Leica Q3, Q2, M11, Moncorm, all top of the line. None of them has caught my attention as much as this GX85. After reading this review, I have used it again and I must say that I would not change this camera for any of the other ones above. Simple, small, full of effects, and despite its 16 megapixels, it has spectacular sharpness.

Thank you so much for this incredibly detailed review! I was always considering the gx85 over the g7 due to the image stabilization for the video, but once you brought up the crop factor, it became a dealbreaker for me. The wealth of information in your reviews just prevented one unhappy buyer!

Maarten is the King of Camera Reviews. Anyone who is about to buy a camera should watch his video on that particular camera to make sure they understand what they are about to buy.

This is extremely well-edited, scripted, and through. Excellent job and I really appreciate the information. I've been a Panasonic user for a while but didn't even bother to use half of the Futures you describe so it was interesting to hear you tell about them.

This is a perfect example of one of your videos packed with information on camera features. I am shortly going to try video for the first time on my GX9. I will have to watch this video maybe three more times first! I don’t know of anything else on YouTube that provides such comprehensive, well thought out explanations. I am going to miss your contributions to educating photographers!

You are a very skilled reviewer, always a relaxed and calm, reassuring and knowledgeable presentation every time. And lovely voice too. The GX80/85 is a great camera-even in 2019, and still holding it's own against newly released cameras. And now an even better buy! I have the GX8 and still love it-a joy to use. The GX80/85 will just complement it. The slightly smaller body makes this an even better option for travel and grab and go camera. The humble 12-32mm lens proves that size doesn't matter, and makes the camera more fun to use!

Your reviews are so comprehensive and easy to understand, they render manuals obsolete! Thank you very much for the time and hard work which goes into producing videos so professionally like this :) We all appreciate it very much :)
