I remember this crime. My mother knew this guy, he was well know in the Chinese community. Word has it the young Chinese wife married him for citizenship and she was getting ready to divorce him for a new life. That is why he killed her and dumped the little girl. She's raised by the grandparents in China and was able to go back to NZ for university studies (free provided by the locals).
