In 1974, Spokane became the smallest city in history to host the World’s Fair.

The Spokane World’s Fair transformed the heart of our city and helped this region grow.

Spokane Public Schools has partnered with Expo ’74 organizers and Gonzaga University to develop lessons that teach students about the fair and its impact on our city.

This week and next, fourth and seventh graders are taking field trips to Riverfront Park to learn how Expo ’74 shaped our city.

They’re visiting stations throughout the park, where Gonzaga students share a little history and answer questions.
